Also, people should know how to operate this equipment. Because there is no time to save anything when a fire breaks out. As you cannot read the manual at the time the fire breaks out. You need to be ever prepared for the same. Keep reading further to know all about the safety equipment and how and when to use it.

1. Smoke Alarms:

Smoke alarms help save many people’s lives as it is the first indicator of smoke or a spark from where a fire might occur. As alarms are active systems, these can detect the flame from a very early stage. So, you need to have properly installed and maintained alarms that can help you reduce the destruction.

You need to install smoke alarms on the roofs to detect smoke, and they detect small particles in the air that can cause a fire. Once those particles are detected, and if they are above the normal threshold, then the smoke alarm sirens start and let the people nearby know that there are chances of getting fire at the place. And since these are so important, they still run on batteries. So, you need to maintain them very well.

2. Fire Extinguishers:

There are many different types of extinguishers, and each one has its own use. Foam fire extinguishers, water fire extinguishers, dry powder fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, and wet chemical fire extinguishers.

You need to install fire extinguishers everywhere, and they should come in handy in any fire situation. It is very easy to operate. You just need to pull the pin, aim at the fire, squeeze the handle to discharge and sweep the nozzle sideways, directing it to the flame. But you need to make sure that these fire extinguishers are well maintained and installed on a high wall that is visible to each and everyone in case of emergency.

3. Fire Blankets:

Fire blankets help turn off the heat source by cutting off the oxygen that helps the fire to ignite. It also helps to reduce the spread of a fire. These are easy to use and maintain.

Fire blankets are mainly used in electrical fires to smother the blaze of the fire. You need to remove the tape from the blanket from the box and wrap it around the body to protect it from getting burnt from a deadly fire. e

4. Sprinklers:

A sprinkler consists of water systems that help reduce the fire. These sprinklers help reduce the potential loss of lives and property that can be caused when a fire breaks out. Providing adequate pressure and adjusting the flow of water can put off a fire in less time. It is one of the most effective ways because the firefighters take time to reach the location where a fire is broken out. Still, if you start a sprinkler system, it reduces at the initial level and also helps prevent the lives of many people and also help save the property.

5. Fire Hose Reels:

Fire hose reels are placed in a cabinet (a steel box), usually seen in public places and other buildings. It is located in such a way that it provides proper access to the controlled supply of water. These are used in places where a fire extinguisher is unable to provide adequate cover. These can be used to put out electrical or chemical fires. And can be used on furniture, plastics, and wood of any kind. These need to be maintained and serviced once a year.

These are used from a safe distance. First, you need to check the nozzle is closed and turn on the valve. Then reel out the hose until it is enough to reach the flame. Next, you just need to open the nozzle and aim the water stream on the flame from a distance.

Fire safety is a must everywhere, from schools, offices, public gardens, high rise buildings to restaurants and museums. And you should be ever ready to put out the fire when required. Apart from this safety equipment, there are other equipments which help put out the fire. But most of them operate on their own. And knowing how fire safety equipment works when needed can help save a lot of people’s lives and property. Also, you and your family should know the evacuation plan in an emergency. Before entering a new venue, you need to know the emergency exits because that helps escape the venue in the shortest time, which might save your life if a fire breaks out. Fires are deadly and need to be put out as possible. And if you know how to use these fire safety equipment, then you are a saviour in such cases.
