How to Draw A Lightbulb

Step 1

Draw a perfect circle on the top of the paper. This outlines the circular body of the lightbulb.

You can always use a compass if you need help drawing a perfect circle. This drawing tool allows you to draw proportional circles quickly and easily.

Step 2

Draw a cone-shaped figure just below the circle. The edges of the two shapes must ideally line up to form the pear structure.

Avoid applying too much pressure with the pencil when drawing the outlines. It’s essential to draw with light strokes to easily erase some parts of the line you don’t need later.

Step 3

Clarify the shape of the lightbulb by simply erasing the bottom of the overlapping circle within the outline, revealing a sophisticated lightbulb figure.

Step 4

Draw a long thin line below the glass bulb, as shown in the picture. This creates the first layer of the base.

The cap or base of the lightbulb has three main functions. First, it securely supports the bulb while connected to a power supply.

Second, it carries electricity from the primary power source to the lightbulb. Finally, it contains the glass bulb and all the components inside the bulb.

Step 5

Draw another layer of the base just below the first layer we drew in the previous step.

At this point, you should have a base with two layers on top of each other.

Step 6

Repeat the previous step to create the third layer of the base.

After completing this step, you should have a base with three equal layers.

Step 7

After you’ve completed three layers of the lightbulb base, it’s time to draw the bottom part that connects the lightbulb to an electrical source.

Just below the three base layers we drew in the previous steps, draw a short diagonal line pointing down each side.

Next, draw a slightly curved horizontal line connecting the two bottom endpoints of each diagonal line.

Step 8

Complete your lightbulb by threading the wire inside the lightbulb. Start at the base and draw two straight lines going up.

Once you have your desired contact wire length of about 1 inch, draw more spiral lines connecting the two lines you drew.

Step 9

Now draw more vertical lines around the glass bulb for a dramatic effect. This creates an illusion of luminescence and makes the bulb appear as if it is glowing.

Now that we have successfully drawn a lightbulb, it’s time to choose colors and color your drawing!

This is where you can show off your artistic skills and ability to mix and match different colors.

The bulbs are most commonly available in the traditional colors of white and yellow. However, modern lightbulbs have fun colors like red, blue, green, and more! This gives you many color options to choose from when coloring the bulb.
